Chris Coan

Chris has an impressive number of credits showcasing his multi-faceted talents as a Producer, Director, Editor, Actor, Educator, Writer and Singer. He was cast in the New York National Concert Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar in the powerful role of Judas. Chris was the male lead in the Feature Film “Somebody Moved My Mountain” and upon completion of that film, signed an album deal with CBS Records as the Lead Singer for the jazz-rock group “Sky King”.
Chris is a twenty-year veteran of music composition and sound design and has worked with many of the biggest names in the music, recording and film industry. Some of his credits include Janet Jackson, Bob Dylan, Dave Sanborne, Muddy Waters, B.B.King, Bob James, Danny, Chris and Darius Brubeck, Michael Brecker and James Taylor.
He has worked as an A.D.R. engineer with Tom Cruise on “Days of Thunder”.
As a composer, he scored the music for Sea World’s Laser Light Show.
As a Sound Designer, he worked closely with Jim Henson to produce original sound effects used in his film and television productions.
He was the location sound engineer for Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation tour.
Chris was instrumental in the design of the Tapeless Studio Course curriculum at Full Sail Recorders where he taught the Synclavier Digital Audio Workstation (featuring non-linear audio editing, FM synthesis and sound design). He also taught the Softimage Digital Studio (featuring compositing, graphics, paint, audio and non-linear video editing).
Chris has Course Director certifications in the Synclavier, Lexicon Opus and Studer Dyaxis. Has attained Professional Achievement Level One in the Career College Association Teacher Evaluation Modules as developed by the Center on Education and Training.
He spent eight years with a postsecondary institution in Florida where he served as a Course Director, Assistant Director of Education, Director of Corporate Training, Director of Operations and Member of the Executive Committee. Upon joining Expression College for Digital Arts, he served as Program Director of Sound Arts, Senior Vice President of Education and Dean of Students.
Chris has recently completed a fictitious adventure novel based upon his exploration of the upper Amazon basin and is in the process of seeking publication.
Chris is an avid writer, cook and sailor.
