Ty Carriere

Ty is a long time gamer and still has his Atari 2600, Commodore 64, ColecoVision, Genesis, etc.

He started out studying to be a fine art painter and had paintings and shows and competed in contests. He won 2nd place for a painting competing in Northern Calilfornia NAACP art contest. He has had works on display at local art centers and also did volunteer work at the Richmond Art Center working with children 3-6. He studied Visual Presentation at FIDM, Traditional Art at the San Francisco School of Art and Design at Platt.

While in school he tutored other students at other schools. He took a break from fine art and focused on studying, training and for a short time teaching Martial Arts.

He eventually changed his focus to Graphic Design doing freelance and working for Cole International, Crazy Shirts and BofA. He then managed a virtual reality studio in San Francisco for 2 years called Astro Venture where he really started to become interested in video games. They featured a modified version of Duke Nukem in their Cobra Virtual Reality Machines as well as Thompson Motion Simulators and they also had a testing area for Sega games. Ironically he started doing beta testing with Sega for their online infrastructure for Unreal Tournament on the Dreamcast as well as Quake and a few other games. By that time Ty knew he wanted to be doing more in games and became a texture artist by utilizing his years of experience with Photoshop and design.

He was recruited by a friend at Expression in 1999 and started working there 2 weeks before they opened and helped write curriculum for the school. During his stay he taught a total of 17 individual courses ranging from Graphic Design to Web to Game Design. During his time teaching he has worked on projects for Intel and NASA. He has been working with Epics Unreal Engine for a few years now and is thrilled to help the students create great content. All his spare time goes to my daughter (the first love of my life) and my xbox360 (his second love).
Viva la Games!!!
